Uncommon Volume Surge in Friday’s FTRI ETF

The First Trust Indxx Global Natural Resources Income ETF (FTRI) experienced unusually high trading volume on Friday, with over 322,000 shares traded compared to a three-month average of approximately 54,000 shares. As of the afternoon, FTRI shares were down about 1% for the day.

Within the ETF, Freeport-McMoRan saw over 5.8 million shares traded, down approximately 1.3%, while Weyerhaeuser traded over 5.1 million shares, declining about 1.5%. International Paper was the strongest performer among the components, rising about 1.9%, whereas Agnico Eagle Mines reported the largest drop, down about 6.5%.
