AI Semiconductor Market Growth
The global semiconductor industry, driven by demand for AI technologies, is projected to see revenues increase by 94% by 2026, according to market research firm Omdia. Revenue from computing and data storage chips is expected to approach $1 trillion in 2023. Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) estimates that the market for high-performance and AI computing chips could reach $2 trillion by 2030.
AMD reported a 50% year-over-year revenue increase to $11.5 billion in its latest quarter, attributed to strong demand for its server CPUs and GPUs. Nvidia anticipates $91 billion in revenue for fiscal Q2, a 95% year-over-year increase. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE: TSM) reported a 45% year-over-year revenue growth and expects its 3-nanometer chip production to increase by 20% by the end of 2026.
TSMC leads the foundry market with a 73% share, far ahead of its closest competitor, Samsung, at just 7%. The company plans to implement a 25% price increase for AI chips next year, alongside a 5%-10% increase for other services. Analysts remain bullish on TSMC’s long-term earnings growth due to sustained AI chip demand.
