Vanguard S&P 500 ETF Surpasses $1 Trillion
The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO) has made history as the first exchange-traded fund to exceed $1 trillion in assets, reflecting its status as the most popular ETF among investors. As of June 2026, the top seven technology companies, known as the “Magnificent Seven,” represent over one-third of the S&P 500’s total value, heightening its volatility risk.
To mitigate this risk, investors are advised to maintain a long-term investment approach, ideally holding for at least five years to buffer against potential short-term price swings. Additionally, diversifying portfolios with small-cap, value, or dividend stocks can provide a more balanced exposure amidst the S&P 500’s tech-heavy tilt.
Over the past decade, a $5,000 investment in the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF would have grown to more than $21,500, illustrating its potential for lucrative returns despite increased volatility concerns.
