Upcoming Economic Events: Retail Sales, Earnings, and Fed Speeches

The week of April 14 presents a busy economic calendar, which includes important retail sales data, housing starts, and updates on regional manufacturing. Investors will also listen to several Federal Reserve officials, who may provide insights into the central bank’s future policy direction.

In addition, a number of significant companies are set to report earnings. Notable financial institutions include Bank of America (BAC), Charles Schwab (SCHW), Citigroup (C), Goldman Sachs (GS), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), and PNC Financial (PNC). Other sectors will feature reports from Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Netflix (NFLX), and United Airlines (UAL).

Here is a schedule of important market events planned for the upcoming week. Please note that all economic dates are tentative and may change.

Monday, April 14: Expect speeches from Patrick Harker, President of the Philadelphia Fed, and Raphael Bostic, President of the Atlanta Fed.

Tuesday, April 15: Data releases will include the import price index, the import price index excluding fuel, and the Empire State manufacturing survey.

Wednesday, April 16: Key reports will cover U.S. retail sales, industrial production, capacity utilization, business inventories, the home builder confidence index, along with a speech from Loretta Mester, President of the Cleveland Fed.

Thursday, April 17: Initial jobless claims, housing starts, building permits, and the Philadelphia Fed manufacturing survey will be released.

Friday, April 18: The week will close with remarks from Mary Daly, President of the San Francisco Fed.
