Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics launched its humanoid robot “Superman” on August 17, 2026, claiming it can run at a top speed of 12.66 meters per second, faster than Usain Bolt’s record speed. This unveiling coincided with Unitree’s IPO, which debuted on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s STAR Market under the ticker 688836, attracting significant investor interest.
Unitree’s shares were initially priced at 150.80 yuan but surged by as much as 629% during the first trading day, closing at 845 yuan, resulting in a market valuation of approximately $50 billion. This rise reflects growing investor confidence in the future of humanoid robotics, despite potential regulatory hurdles regarding U.S.-China relations impacting the sector.
As the industry expands, other companies, including Deep Robotics and Mech-Mind Robotics, are also pursuing IPOs, indicating a burgeoning market for humanoid robotics and related components. Investors are increasingly looking towards suppliers of essential robotics parts, such as AI processors and sensors, as a viable investment strategy.
