Venture Global Inc. (VG), a U.S.-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, has signed a 20-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Japan’s Tokyo Gas to supply 1 million metric tons of LNG per year, starting in 2030. This marks VG’s fourth contract with a Japanese company amid increasing energy imports by Japan.
In the past six months, Venture Global has entered into long-term agreements totaling 7.75 million tons per annum of LNG. Japan, which imported approximately 66 million tons of LNG in 2024, stands as the second-largest LNG-importing nation after China. The agreement is expected to positively impact the U.S.-Japan trade balance.
