Verizon Business, in collaboration with Nokia, will deploy multiple Private 5G Networks at Thames Freeport, a major free trade zone in the UK, to enhance industrial operations and stimulate local economic growth. The initiative is part of a multiyear, multibillion-dollar investment aiming to create 5,000 high-skilled jobs by 2030, using AI-driven data analytics and advanced technologies to transform port logistics.
The Private 5G Networks will be implemented across key locations including DP World London Gateway, Port of Tilbury, and Ford Dagenham. These networks are expected to enable real-time logistics and autonomous vehicle control, significantly boosting operational efficiency within one of the UK’s busiest maritime logistics hubs. The Thames Freeport has already created 1,400 jobs and is focused on community development through high-skilled training.
