Viavi Solutions, Inc. (VIAV) has announced a collaboration with 3-GIS, a key provider of fiber network design software, aimed at improving fiber fault detection for enterprises. As fiber networks are essential for data communications, maintaining their quality is critical, especially as organizations adopt advanced AI and cloud technologies. Issues, even minor ones, can severely impact service quality and user experience. Current manual maintenance processes complicate this further.
This partnership seeks to resolve these challenges. By integrating the VIAVI ONMSi Remote Fiber Test System with 3-GIS’ geospatial capabilities, Viavi aims to assist technicians in swiftly identifying and rectifying network problems. This solution capitalizes on service providers’ existing Geographic Information System investments to visualize their network infrastructure.
The solution has already been implemented at Windstream Wholesale’s Intelligent Converged Optical Network, enhancing visibility across their network layout for quick identification of impairments. The automation of manual processes in this system reduces errors, improves maintenance, and decreases downtime.
