Tesla Accelerates Cybertruck Deliveries Through Referral Program
EV behemoth Tesla Inc TSLA is making the dreams of select Cybertruck reservation holders come true by offering an exclusive opportunity to expedite their deliveries even amid surging demand.
Referral Program Offers Fast-Track Delivery Option
What’s the Buzz: Reserved Cybertruck customers who are part of Tesla’s referral program can now utilize 30,000 referral credits to jump ahead in the queue and seize their prized vehicle faster than fellow reservation holders.
On redeeming 30,000 credits, these reservation holders will be promptly invited to configure their vehicle and can expect to take delivery of either the foundation series all-wheel drive or higher-end Cyberbeast in a mere 45 days.
High Demand for Cybertruck
Huge Demand: At Tesla’s fourth-quarter earnings call last month, Tesla Supply Chain Vice President Karn Budhiraj indicated that the conversion of reservations to orders for the Cybertruck has been “very encouraging.” The company has been witnessing a continuous inflow of new orders since the vehicle’s launch in late November.
“If the trend continues as it’s very likely to be, we will soon [sell] out all the builds in 2024,” the executive shared. Musk also acknowledged that the challenge with the Cybertruck lies not in demand but in production.
“Obviously, we could dramatically raise the price, but that doesn’t feel right to us to sort of gouge people for early delivery,” Musk stated, reiterating his goal of delivering 250,000 Cybertrucks in North America. The CEO had previously set the delivery target for 2025.
Significance of the Priority Offer
Why You Should Care: During Tesla’s third-quarter earnings call in October, a month before the Cybertruck’s grand delivery event, Musk revealed that over a million people had already reserved the vehicle. This suggests that those further down the reservation list may have to endure a wait until 2026 or even later for their vehicles.
With the referral offer, however, fervent customers anticipating their vehicles can secure them within just a few months instead of enduring protracted waits.
