Warner Music Group (NASDAQ:WMG) announced on Friday that it had sealed a deal with Megan Thee Stallion to provide distribution and marketing resources for the influential American rapper.
Megan Thee Stallion will maintain her status as an independent artist and retain ownership of her masters and publishing.
Per the agreement, the artist will release her music through Hot Girl Productions, her independent music and entertainment entity, while also collaborating with Warner Music and its international affiliates.
In a statement, Warner Music Group said, “Megan has full creative control of her music releases along with the option to bring artists that are signed to her imprint into the WMG ecosystem.”
Megan Thee Stallion ventured into her independent artist journey in 2023 after parting ways with her former record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, following a long legal dispute. Warner Music’s (WMG) subsidiary, 300 Entertainment, had previously been responsible for distributing the artist’s music.
