Berkshire Hathaway’s Apple Sales and Investment Strategy
Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A, BRK.B), has sold over 635 million shares of Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL)—representing 69% of its position—over the past two years, with a significant profit-taking rationale mentioned during the 2024 shareholder meeting. As of June 30, 2023, Berkshire held 915,560,382 shares of Apple, which comprised nearly 50% of its investment portfolio.
Despite being a net seller of stocks for 11 consecutive quarters, totaling $177.4 billion in sales, Buffett has been actively purchasing shares in Pool Corp (NASDAQ: POOL) for four straight quarters, now holding a 9.3% stake. During this period, Buffett has acquired 1,994,885 shares in the latest quarter alone.
Apple’s TTM earnings multiple has risen to approximately 35, complicating Buffett’s value-investing strategy, while Pool Corp shown a robust performance, benefiting from steady demand and a strong capital-return program, having spent over $252 million in stock buybacks and dividends in the first half of 2025.
