General Motors Financial Update
General Motors (NYSE: GM) is currently trading at over $80 per share, more than double the $33.95 per share price paid by Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett in 2017 for 10 million shares. Despite this rise, GM reported $185 billion in revenue for 2025, a decline of 1.3%, with earnings per share (EPS) down 48.7% to $3.24, largely due to a $7.2 billion write-down in its electric vehicle (EV) business.
In response to its financial challenges, GM has raised its quarterly dividend payout by 20% to $0.18 per share and authorized a $6 billion stock repurchase. However, the company faces uncertainty with a projected EPS increase to between $11 and $13 for 2026, a notable improvement from the previous year. As the automotive sector continues to be cyclical, the market is urging caution regarding long-term investment in GM.
