Warren Buffett plans to accelerate the disposal of his approximately 188,000 Class A shares and over 1,100 Class B shares of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA, BRKB), which contribute to his net worth of around $150 billion. The announcement was made in a Berkshire press release on July 14, 2023, where Buffett stated his goal to divest all his Berkshire shares within the next eight years.
Buffett’s remaining shares will be donated to four foundations, three managed by his children and one dedicated to his late wife, Susan Thompson Buffett. Additionally, he has decided to skip his annual donation to the Gates Foundation following concerns over Bill Gates’ ties to Jeffrey Epstein, pending a review of the foundation’s past interactions with Epstein.
