Rising Tides Lift Unusually High Volume

The iShares U.S. Broker-Dealers & Securities Exchanges ETF experienced a significant surge in trading activity on Wednesday afternoon. Over 840,000 shares exchanged hands, a stark contrast to its three-month average volume of approximately 86,000. Despite this uptick in volume, IAI shares dipped by 1.1% during the trading session.

Top Performers and Laggards in the ETFs

Among the components of the ETF, Coinbase Global saw one of the highest trading volumes, with over 3.1 million shares traded, resulting in a 1.9% decrease in value. On the other hand, Robinhood Markets witnessed a trading volume of over 2.4 million shares and a decline of 0.9%. LPL Financial Holdings emerged as the top performer of the day, enjoying a 2.1% increase in value. In contrast, B. Riley Financial struggled, trailing behind other components with a 6% decrease in value.
