As of midday Friday, Consumer Products companies led the market, gaining 0.8%, with Nike (NKE) up 15.4% and Royal Caribbean Group (RCL) rising 3.5%. The iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF (IYK) rose 0.5% today and is up 7.91% year-to-date. Nike is down 3.52% year-to-date, while RCL is up 33.42% year-to-date.
The Services sector follows closely with a 0.7% increase, highlighted by Carnival Corp (CCL), which gained 3.8%, and Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc (HLT), which rose 2.3%. The iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (IYC) is up 0.8% today and 3.44% year-to-date. CCL has increased 9.01% year-to-date, while HLT is up 6.74% in the same period.
In total, seven sectors are up in Friday’s trading, while two sectors are down. Notably, Industrial and Utilities sectors are also seeing gains of 0.7% and 0.5%, respectively.
