Westport Fuel Systems Inc. (WPRT) reported a second-quarter 2026 loss of 53 cents per share, exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of 45 cents. This is a widening loss compared to 29 cents per share a year earlier. Revenues fell 78.3% year-over-year to $2.72 million, but surpassed the expected $2 million by 44.5%.

Operational challenges included a $7.21 million operating loss, attributed to increases in financing costs, foreign exchange losses totaling $1.69 million, and a $1.50 million warrant-liability fair-value loss. Cespira, Westport’s joint venture, generated $27.07 million in quarterly revenues, a 125% increase from the previous year, helping to offset some losses.

As of June 30, cash reserves totaled $23.95 million, a decline from $24.50 million at the end of March. Despite recent financing efforts, Westport noted substantial doubt about its ability to maintain operations over the next year, indicating potential liquidity challenges.
