Wheat futures showed mixed results midday on Thursday, with CBT soft red wheat up by up to 2 cents, while KC HRW futures declined by 2 to 2.25 cents. Open interest dropped by 14,438 contracts, with 13,329 contracts exiting September ahead of the first notice day on Friday.
Wheat export sales reached 579,794 MT for the week ending August 21, marking an 11.55% increase from the previous week and aligning with trade estimates of 400,000 MT to 700,000 MT. Canada’s wheat production is projected at 35.548 MMT, down from last year, while the European Commission predicts a wheat crop of 128.1 MMT for 2025/26.
Key wheat futures prices include Sep 25 CBOT Wheat at $5.04 (up 1.75 cents), Dec 25 CBOT Wheat at $5.25 (up 0.75 cents), and Sep 25 KCBT Wheat at $4.84 (down 1.25 cents).
