On Friday, wheat futures are showing modest gains, with Chicago futures rising 6 to 8 cents, Kansas City contracts up 4 to 6.5 cents, and MPLS spring wheat gaining 6 to 8.5 cents. Following the USDA’s Export Sales report on Thursday, US wheat export commitments stand at 7.76 MMT, representing 35% of the full-year USDA projection and 1% ahead of the average pace. Actual shipments total 2.2 MMT, which is 9% of the forecast but 1% below the 5-year average.
FranceAgriMer has estimated the French soft wheat crop at 52% good to excellent, a 5% decrease from the previous week and significantly lower than last year’s 80%. Currently, the crop is 14% harvested, compared to 51% at the same time last year, and an average of 43%.
As of September 24, 2024, CBOT Wheat prices are as follows: September at $5.42½ (up 7¼ cents), December at $5.68 (up 8 cents); KCBT Wheat September at $5.69¼ (up 6½ cents), December at $5.85½ (up 6½ cents); and MGEX Wheat September at $6.08¾ (up 8¼ cents), December at $6.28¾ (up 8½ cents).
