The Chicago SRW wheat contracts are trading down 12 to 14 cents at midday on September 26, with KC HRW futures slipping 10 to 12 cents and MPLS spring wheat down 9 to 10 cents. According to NASS Crop Progress data, 86% of the U.S. winter wheat crop has been harvested, matching the normal pace, while 98% of spring wheat is headed—1% ahead of the 5-year average.
Quarterly NASS Flower Milling data reports that 222.28 million bushels of wheat were ground for flour from April to June, a slight decrease from last year. Additionally, U.S. wheat exports in June totaled 1.473 million metric tons, the lowest in three years and an 8.49% drop from May. Notably, a South Korean mill purchased 50,000 metric tons of U.S. wheat in a recent tender.
