On December 27, 2023, the wheat markets experienced declines across all three exchanges, with Chicago SRW futures dropping by 3 to 4 cents, KC HRW futures declining by 7 to 8 cents, and MPLS spring wheat decreasing by 4 to 5 cents. Notably, March 26 CBOT Wheat closed at $5.07, marking a 3.75-cent decrease.
Commitment of Traders data indicated that speculators held a net short position of 91,665 contracts in CBT wheat futures as of December 23, a week-over-week increase of 24,747 contracts. Additionally, export sales for the week of December 18 totaled 147,834 metric tons, a 35.83% drop from the previous week and 75.86% lower than the same period last year.
The markets will be closed on December 28 for New Year’s Day, with reopening scheduled for December 29 at 8:30 AM CST.
