Wheat Prices Decline on Monday

The wheat market experienced declines on Monday, with Chicago SRW contracts dropping between 4 1/4 to 8 3/4 cents. In contrast, MPLS spring wheat saw minimal gains, while KC HRW futures fell by 4 1/4 to 8 1/2 cents. As of July 16, the USDA reported that 74% of the U.S. winter wheat crop has been harvested, which is 3% ahead of the typical pace, while 86% of the spring wheat crop is headed, outpacing the five-year average by 1%.

Wheat export shipments for the week ending July 16 were recorded at 231,991 metric tons (7.8 million bushels), significantly lower than the previous week and less than one-third of the shipments from the same week last year. Overall, marketing year exports for 2025/26 are at 1.893 million metric tons (78.21 million bushels), marking a 29.5% decline compared to the same period last year. Additionally, Argus estimates the French wheat crop at 30.8 million metric tons, a decrease of 7.6% from last year.
