Wheat futures fell across three exchanges on Friday, following a mixed performance on Thursday where Chicago SRW futures increased by 3.5 to 5.75 cents. Open interest rose by 2,505 contracts in Chicago, while KC HRW futures were up by 1 to 2.25 cents, adding 2,168 contracts. Minneapolis spring wheat also rose by 4.5 to 6.5 cents.
The latest Export Sales report indicated that 189,887 MT of old crop wheat was sold for the week ending March 12, a 58.3% decline from the previous week, but higher than last year’s figures. Mexico was the primary buyer with 153,100 MT, followed by 47,600 MT to the Philippines and 33,500 MT to the Dominican Republic. New crop sales totaled 212,059 MT, exceeding expectations and reflected a 56.8% decrease YoY.
FranceAgriMer’s assessment shows that 84% of France’s wheat crop is rated good/excellent, unchanged from last week. The International Grains Council forecasts global wheat production for 2025/26 at 845 MMT, increasing by 3 MMT from the previous month, while new crop production is expected to drop 23 MMT YoY to 822 MMT.
