Wheat futures showed strength on Tuesday, with Chicago SRW futures rising by 5 to 6 cents, while KC HRW and MPLS spring wheat also increased by similar margins. As of August 18, 96% of the U.S. winter wheat harvest was completed, and 31% of spring wheat was harvested, trailing the 36% average. Crop conditions improved slightly, with 73% rated good to excellent.

Japan has issued a tender for 81,442 MT of wheat from the U.S. and Canada, specifying 53,562 MT from the U.S. In the EU, soft wheat exports from July 1 to August 18 totaled 3.55 MMT, down from 4.53 MMT during the same period last year. Additionally, Russian wheat production estimates were raised by SovEcon to 83.3 MMT.

Current wheat futures prices include: Sep 24 CBOT Wheat at $5.33 1/2 (up 5 1/4 cents), Dec 24 CBOT Wheat at $5.57 1/2 (up 5 1/4 cents), Sep 24 KCBT Wheat at $5.46 1/4 (up 5 1/2 cents), and Sep 24 MGEX Wheat at $5.92 3/4 (up 5 1/2 cents).
