The wheat complex experienced mixed results on Tuesday, with Chicago SRW futures increasing by ½ to 2 cents, while MPLS spring wheat saw losses of ¾ to 2 cents. KC HRW futures gained fractional to 1 ½ cents across the board. As of Sunday, NASS reported that 92% of the U.S. winter wheat crop was headed, surpassing the normal pace by 7%. The harvest was at 11%, outpacing the 6% average.
Current crop conditions show a decline, with 25% rated good/excellent (down 1%), and an average Brugler500 index of 263 for the winter wheat. In comparison, the Brugler500 for spring wheat rose to 350, with 98% planted (3% ahead of normal). The Southern Plains may experience limited wheat harvesting this week due to expected rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches across Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
An upcoming Crop Production report is anticipated to update U.S. wheat production, with analysts estimating it at 1.555 billion bushels. The European Commission has projected EU wheat exports from July 1 to June 7 at 22.05 MMT, which is 1.53 MMT higher than the previous year.
