On Wednesday, March 26, the wheat market saw significant gains across all exchanges, with Chicago SRW futures closing up by 6 to 8 cents, KC HRW futures rising 10 cents, and MPLS spring wheat increasing by 3 to 4 cents. The closing prices were $5.18 for Mar 26 CBOT Wheat, $5.31½ for Mar 26 KCBT Wheat, and $5.71½ for Mar 26 MIAX Wheat.
Looking ahead, export sales data for the week of January 1 is anticipated to be released on Thursday, with expectations ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 metric tons for 2025/26 wheat sales. Additionally, the USDA is set to publish the Winter Wheat Seedings report on Monday, predicting a total of 32.4 million acres of winter wheat, which includes 23 million acres of HRW, 5.9 million acres of SRW, and 3.5 million acres of white wheat.
China’s Vice Premier noted that while the winter wheat crop area remains stable, some regions are experiencing weak planting conditions.
