On Thursday, soft red wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBT) rose by 5 to 6 cents, while Kansas City Hard Red Winter (KC HRW) futures increased by 1 to 2 cents. The Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MPLS) spring wheat was fractionally higher, with September contracts nearing expiration and experiencing low trading volume.

According to the weekly export sales data for the week ending September 4, the total wheat sales reached 305,351 metric tons, marking the second lowest total for the marketing year and falling short of estimates between 300,000 and 650,000 metric tons.

Upcoming USDA monthly WASDE report is anticipated to maintain the 2025/26 balance sheet with stock levels at 865 million bushels, representing a decrease of 4 million bushels from last month. Additionally, EU wheat production has been increased by 3.3 million tons to a total of 136.1 million tons.
