Alibaba Group Holding Limited (BABA) forecasts that AI cloud demand will drive enterprise growth, projecting a 40% year-over-year revenue increase in its Cloud Intelligence Group for Q4 FY2026, supported by triple-digit AI revenue growth over 11 consecutive quarters. AI products now represent nearly 30% of external cloud revenues and are expected to exceed 50% by mid-2024. The company aims for its AI services annual recurring revenue (ARR) to hit RMB 30 billion by the end of 2026.

On May 20, 2023, Alibaba launched significant AI advancements at its Cloud Summit in Hangzhou, introducing the Qwen3.7-Max large language model, Zhenwu M890 AI chip, and Panjiu AL128 Supernode Server, boosting AI capabilities vital for large-scale operations. Despite heavy investment leading to negative free cash flow, Alibaba emphasizes its vertically integrated AI infrastructure as a core advantage over competitors like JD.com and PDD Holdings, which lack comparable cloud service scales.

As part of its growth strategy, Alibaba remains focused on transitioning enterprise demand from basic AI to more complex applications and is bolstering its proprietary chip capabilities to enhance service delivery. The company anticipates revenues of $166.24 billion for FY2027, reflecting a 14.3% increase year-over-year.
