Apple Inc. has launched the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone, marking an expansion into a new product category on July 26, 2026. This innovative device features a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display designed for enhanced content consumption and multitasking capabilities. The foldable design is expected to strengthen the company’s hardware and services ecosystem, following an impressive $54.3 billion in iPhone revenues for Q3 fiscal 2026, up 22% year over year.
The iPhone Duo’s launch coincides with a record installed base of iPhones and substantial demand for premium devices, highlighted by a reported 1.5 billion paid subscriptions across Apple’s services. However, constraints related to advanced-node chip supply and increasing memory costs pose challenges that could affect Apple’s ability to meet initial demand for the device. This dynamic is compounded by a broader smartphone market decline of 7% year over year in Q2 2026, with Apple capturing a 21% market share, driven by continued strength in the iPhone 17 series.
Despite the challenges, analysts forecast steady growth for Apple, estimating revenue of $477.42 billion for fiscal 2026, reflecting a 14.72% increase over the previous year, and earnings of $8.85 per share, showing an 18.63% rise.
