International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) has secured a five-year contract worth up to $112 million from the Department of War’s Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) to enhance pricing displays at military commissaries globally. The contract will enable real-time price updates and improve product availability at 177 U.S. commissaries and 58 overseas locations across 12 countries.
As part of the agreement, IBM will upgrade existing Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) systems and provide ongoing maintenance and support, significantly reducing manual work and aligning with the DoW’s digital transformation initiatives. IBM is also advancing its military capabilities with the introduction of the IBM Defense Model, an AI system tailored for national-security missions.
In recent performance metrics, IBM shares have declined by 6.2% over the past year, contrasting with a 105.1% growth rate in the industry, putting its current forward price-to-sales ratio at 3.11, below the industry average of 4.7.
