Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM) has unveiled its latest mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, in partnership with Samsung Electronics. This advanced chip will be utilized in the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra globally and in select regions for Galaxy S26+ and S26 models. Key features include a custom 3rd Gen Qualcomm Oryon CPU, next-generation Qualcomm Adreno GPU, and Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, which enhance performance and on-device AI capabilities.

Qualcomm aims to optimize this chipset for AI features in collaboration with Samsung, enabling improved connectivity through Smart Transmit technology that enhances performance across 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The launch reflects Qualcomm’s commitment to competing with leading tech companies like Apple, Inc (AAPL) and Broadcom, Inc (AVGO), both of which are advancing their own chip technologies.

Despite these advancements, Qualcomm has faced challenges, with shares declining 5.6% over the past year, compared to a 65% industry growth. Current earnings estimates for fiscal 2026 stand at $11.18, down 7.5% in the last two months, indicating ongoing performance hurdles.
