AngloGold Ashanti PLC (AU) reported a 21% increase in gold production year-over-year in Q2 2025, reaching 804,000 ounces, up from 720,000 ounces in Q1, the best first-quarter output since 2020. This surge is largely attributed to the newly acquired Sukari mine, which contributed 129,000 ounces in Q2 and 246,000 ounces for the first half of the year. Sukari now constitutes 16% of AU’s total production, while Geita operations produced 254,000 ounces during the same period.
Conversely, Barrick Mining Corporation (B) witnessed a 15.9% decline in Q2 gold production, totaling 797,000 ounces, resulting in a half-year total of 1,555,000 ounces, a drop of 17.6% year-over-year. This decline was largely due to the suspension of operations at the Loulo-Gounkoto mine amid a dispute with the Malian government. Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (AEM) also experienced a 3% dip in gold production to 866,029 ounces in Q2 2025, contributing to a total of 1,739,823 ounces for the year so far.
AngloGold Ashanti maintains its 2025 production guidance of 2.9-3.225 million ounces, reflecting a potential growth of 9-21% year-over-year, while Barrick expects 3.15-3.5 million ounces excluding Loulo-Gounkoto. Agnico Eagle aims to achieve a target of 3.3-3.5 million ounces in gold production for 2025.
