Tesla Planning New Smaller Electric SUV
Tesla is reportedly in discussions with suppliers about an all-new, smaller electric SUV intended to be priced below the current entry-level Model 3, which starts at $34,000 in China and roughly $37,000 in the U.S. The vehicle may be produced in China, capitalizing on the country’s electric vehicle advancements, where new-energy vehicles comprise around 50% of the market. There is speculation that this new model will bridge the gap between Tesla’s aging lineup and its future ambitions regarding driverless technology.
While Tesla has not confirmed these developments, it has previously scrapped projects, making uncertainty a factor. The push for this new SUV aligns with Tesla’s shifting focus towards its robotaxi and humanoid robot initiatives, as its global sales and profits are currently declining.
