Sypris Solutions, Inc. (SYPR) reported a first-quarter 2026 net loss of $4.1 million, or 18 cents per share, compared to a loss of $0.9 million last year. Revenues decreased to $25.8 million, down 12.5% from $29.5 million a year earlier, primarily due to weakening sales in its Technologies and Electronics segments. Despite these losses, the company’s shares increased 4.7% post-results, while the S&P 500 saw a 0.6% rise over the same period.

Specifically, revenues in the Sypris Technologies and Electronics segments fell to $12.4 million and $13.4 million, respectively. Gross profit for the company dropped sharply to $0.8 million from $3.4 million in the prior-year quarter, due to lower production volumes and supply chain challenges. However, Sypris reported a significant increase in order activity, with a 28% year-over-year rise in orders for Sypris Electronics, showcasing potential growth opportunities despite current financial challenges.

Management remains optimistic about improving operating conditions throughout 2026, citing a strong backlog and new program wins. Highlights include a follow-on contract with NASA for the Artemis Orion program and a long-term agreement with a global truck OEM, indicating promising opportunities in defense and energy markets.
