The Trump administration has urged Meta Platforms (META) to voluntarily submit its artificial intelligence models for federal review amid increasing scrutiny of advanced AI technologies. This request was made during discussions between government officials and Meta, as the U.S. seeks to evaluate the capabilities and potential risks of powerful AI systems before their broader deployment.
Meta’s Muse Spark AI model, launched earlier this year, is currently the only major U.S. AI model that has not completed an agreement to grant government access for evaluation. In contrast, other leading companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Microsoft, and xAI have already consented to provide models for government testing. This initiative follows a June 2 executive order by President Trump, which established a framework for AI developers to share models with the government prior to their release to trusted partners, aimed at addressing cybersecurity and national security risks.
