**Retail Investors Make Major Moves in SpaceX**
Retail investors accounted for 25% of total equities trading volume in 2021, nearly double the previous decade’s percentage, according to a University of Missouri-Kansas City analysis. In July 2026 alone, individual investors invested $320 million in Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), significantly surpassing investments in Alphabet, Amazon, and Tesla combined.
The company, which recently had a record-breaking IPO raising $85.7 billion, is pursuing two trillion-dollar opportunities in artificial intelligence and space. Despite the initial hype, shares of SpaceX have dropped 28% since July 1, 2026, highlighting concerns over profitability and sustainability. Furthermore, insiders may begin selling their shares shortly after the upcoming quarterly report on August 4, potentially impacting retail investors’ holdings negatively.
