Cotton futures closed on Friday, October 26, with October down 129 points at 78.55 cents, December down 123 points at 79.98 cents, and March down 119 points at 81.64 cents. For the week, December futures increased by 135 points. Managed money spec funds added 3,525 contracts to their net long position in cotton futures and options, reaching a total of 53,209 contracts for the week ending Tuesday.
Export sales for the 2025/26 cotton season have reached 12.003 million running bales (RB), exceeding the USDA’s export projection by 102%, with only two reporting weeks remaining. Additionally, new crop business accumulated 2.526 million RB—an increase of 28.05% compared to last year. The NOAA forecasts limited precipitation in Texas while predicting 1 to 2 inches in parts of Alabama and Georgia over the coming week.
