**Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle Futures Update**
On Tuesday, live cattle futures rose by $1.22 to $3.80, with early bids reported at $228, slightly below last week’s $230-231 range. Feeder cattle futures also saw increases, with front-month gains of up to $5.30, while longer-term contracts dipped by $1.22 to $3.55. The CME Feeder Cattle Index increased by $1.10 to $348.47 as of July 27.
Wholesale boxed beef prices showed mixed results, with Choice boxes up $2.97 at $365.86 and Select boxes down $1.64 to $343.52, widening the Choice/Select spread to $22.34. On Tuesday, the USDA reported federally inspected cattle slaughter at 106,000 head, bringing the weekly total to 198,000, down 7,000 head from the previous week and 24,229 head below the same week last year.
