The S&P 500 Index closed up 0.21% on Tuesday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.03%, reaching a 1.5-week high. In contrast, the Nasdaq 100 declined 0.98% to a 2.75-month low. Notably, the Conference Board’s July consumer confidence index unexpectedly fell to 90.8, down from estimates of 92.4, impacting market sentiment. Elsewhere, the U.S. May S&P composite-20 home price index increased by 1.6% year-over-year, outperforming expectations of a 1.3% rise. In commodities, September WTI crude oil prices dropped over 4%, contributing to easing inflation worries and pushing bond yields lower, with the 10-year T-note yield falling to 4.60%.
