Cotton Prices Surge on Thursday

Cotton futures were up significantly on Thursday, with contracts ranging from 125 to 188 points higher at midday. The Cotlook A Index fell by 35 points to 89.75 cents, while ICE certified cotton stocks remained unchanged at 90,699 bales.

In terms of export data for the week of July 23, 29,719 running bales (RB) of cotton were sold for the 2025/26 marketing year, a record low for the season but typical for this time. Conversely, there were 352,447 RB sold for new crop business and shipments totaled 233,795 RB.

The Adjusted World Price decreased by 155 points last week, now at 63.82 cents per pound, with an update expected later today. As of the latest data, Oct ’26 cotton was priced at 79.9 cents (up 188 points), Dec ’26 at 80.89 cents (up 136 points), and Mar ’27 at 82.4 cents (up 126 points).
