Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) reported a substantial fiscal fourth quarter for the period ending June 30, 2023, achieving $90 billion in revenue, an 18% increase from $76.44 billion year-over-year, surpassing expectations of $87.44 billion. Adjusted earnings per share reached $4.74, exceeding analyst forecasts of $4.21 and rising 30% from $3.65 in the same quarter last year.
The company’s cloud segment, driven by Azure, demonstrated strong growth with a 43% year-over-year revenue increase, contributing to a total cloud revenue of $59.3 billion, up 27%. Microsoft also reported that its AI tool, Microsoft 365 Copilot, surpassed 30 million paid users. Following the earnings release, MSFT shares surged 15% in trading.
For the fiscal year 2026, Microsoft reported total revenues of $331.8 billion, also up 18%, while annual adjusted EPS climbed 31% to $17.95. The company’s disciplined capital expenditure outlook of $175 billion addresses investor concerns regarding AI-related spending, further solidifying its position as a leading player in enterprise AI adoption.
