Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) reported over $200.6 billion in revenue for the second quarter of 2023, marking a 19.6% increase year-over-year. The company’s net income surged by $53.4 billion, primarily driven by its investment in AI startup Anthropic. The revenue from Amazon Web Services (AWS) reached $42.2 billion, reflecting a 36.7% growth, while operating income from AWS stood at $16.6 billion. The North America segment generated $116.2 billion in sales with a $9.1 billion operating income.

Additionally, Amazon’s AI and custom chip sectors now boast annual run rates exceeding $25 billion, with significant new agreements signed during the quarter with major companies like Warner Bros.
