Cotton Exhibits Moderate Gains on Thursday

Cotton futures rose between 12 to 24 points in Thursday’s session. Crude oil increased by $3.01 per barrel, while the US dollar index was up by $0.269.

In the week ending July 30, export sales data revealed a net cancellation of 55,855 RB of cotton for the 2025/26 marketing year, marking a year-low. However, new crop business was reported at 242,052 RB, the third largest for the marketing year, with Vietnam as the biggest buyer at 132,400 RB and Turkey at 41,600 RB. Total shipments reached 222,830 RB, primarily to Vietnam with 88,900 RB, followed by Pakistan at 35,500 RB and Turkey at 19,500 MT.

On August 5, The Seam reported 2,277 bales sold at an average price of 80.64 cents. The Cotlook A Index decreased by 70 points to 93.00 cents, while ICE certified cotton stocks remained stable at 84,632 bales. The Adjusted World Price rose by 163 points to 66.29 cents per pound. In terms of contract closings: October 26 cotton settled at 81.96 (up 12 points), December 26 at 83.16 (up 14 points), and March 27 at 84.89 (up 18 points).
