Amazon Achieves $3 Trillion Valuation
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) recently surpassed a market valuation of $3 trillion due to stronger-than-expected earnings, particularly from its cloud computing segment, Amazon Web Services (AWS). The company reported a 37% year-over-year revenue growth in AWS, marking the highest growth rate in 18 quarters. Amazon is on track to potentially become a $5 trillion company by 2029 if it maintains an average earnings growth of 18% per year and continues to capitalize on partnerships with AI firms such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
In the last quarter, Amazon’s retail operations also showed impressive results, with revenue growth of approximately 16%, aided by a successful shift of Prime Day to the second quarter. Currently, Amazon holds $496 billion in contracted revenue, which supports its ambitious growth targets. However, risks remain, including potential demand drops in AI services and increased competition in cloud computing, which could impact future profit margins.
