Altimmune, Inc. (ALT) reported a second-quarter loss of 12 cents per share for 2026, exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a 15-cent loss and improving from a 27-cent loss in the same quarter last year. The company did not generate any revenue as it currently has no marketed drugs.

Research and Development (R&D) expenses totaled $18.7 million, an 8.2% increase from the previous year, driven by ongoing clinical studies, particularly related to its candidate Pemvidutide for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). General and administrative expenses rose by 33.1% to $7.6 million. As of June 30, 2026, Altimmune reported $519 million in cash and investments, up from $332 million at the end of March 2026, providing a runway to support operations into 2029.

Altimmune initiated the global phase III PERFORMA study for Pemvidutide earlier this month, aiming to evaluate its efficacy in MASH patients with moderate-to-severe liver fibrosis, with results expected in 2029. The company also completed enrollment for the phase II RESTORE study for alcohol-associated liver disease in July, with top-line data anticipated in the latter half of 2027.
