Cotton futures experienced losses on Thursday, with declines ranging from 41 to 90 points across most contracts. Notably, October cotton closed at 82.36 cents per pound, down 85 points, while December cotton closed at 83.50 cents, decreasing by 88 points. Crude oil prices fell by $2.06 per barrel, and the US dollar index dropped by 0.054.
For the week of August 6, export sales reported 778,939 running bales carried over from the 2025/26 marketing year and 126,050 running bales in new sales. Shipments totaled 208,374 running bales, with significant exports to Vietnam (60,800 RB) and Pakistan (13,900 RB). Additionally, the Cotlook A Index rose by 50 points to 94.95 cents, while ICE certified cotton stocks decreased by 2,977 bales, bringing the total to 77,764 bales. The Adjusted World Price increased by 190 points to 68.19 cents per pound.
