Cotton Prices Expected to Decline Starting Monday

Cotton futures prices are down 4 to 42 points on Monday morning, following Friday’s mixed performance where futures increased by up to 7 points. The December cotton contract rose 355 points over the past week. As of August 20, the Cotlook A Index increased by 300 points to 98.90 cents, while ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady at 70,643 bales.

During the week ending August 18, managed money added 5,798 contracts to their net long position in cotton futures and options, bringing the total to 78,668 contracts. Additionally, 2026/27 cotton export commitments reached 4.235 million running bales, marking a 31% increase from the previous year and accounting for 37% of USDA’s export projections. The Adjusted World Price was raised by 143 points to 69.62 cents per pound.
