Corn Prices Surge Past $5 on All Contracts Tuesday

Corn futures saw significant gains on Tuesday, with contracts rising between 7 ¾ to 10 ¼ cents, all closing above the $5 mark. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price increased by 9 cents, reaching $4.71 ½.

As of August 23, 86% of the U.S. corn crop is in the dough stage, with 45% dented and 6% mature. However, condition ratings dropped by 3% to 57% in good to excellent condition. The Brugler500 index fell by 5 points to 348, reflecting declines in several states, including North Dakota (-22) and Kansas (-5).

Looking ahead, Brazil’s corn acreage is projected at 23.3 million hectares (57.58 million acres) for the 2026/27 season, a 3.1% increase from last year, while Argentina’s acreage is estimated at 8.4 million hectares (20.76 million acres), remaining unchanged from the previous year.
