Soybean Prices Decline in Monday Morning Trading

Soybean futures experienced a slight decline of 4 to 5 cents after gaining 14 to 20 cents on Friday, August 25. The September contract rose by 51 ¼ cents and November by 48 ½ cents over the week. The cmdtyView national average cash bean price increased by 20 ½ cents to $12.53 ¾. Soymeal futures also saw gains, with September up $20.50 on the week, while soy oil increased by 167 to 259 points.

On the export front, the USDA reported a private sale of 182,000 metric tons of soybeans to China for the 2026/27 period, alongside additional sales of soybean meal to Germany and the Netherlands totaling 200,000 metric tons. Commitment of Traders data indicated managed money increased their net long position by 46,592 contracts, bringing the total to 198,254 contracts as of August 25.

In upcoming events, Sinograin is set to auction 68,000 metric tons of soybeans on September 2, while the EPA is reportedly considering new refinery exemptions. The USDA’s weekly export sales report showed old crop soybean sales at 41.95 million metric tons, reflecting a 17% decrease from the previous year, yet aligning with USDA’s export projections.
