Berkshire Hathaway Leadership Transition
Warren Buffett retired as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway on December 31, 2022, after more than 50 years at the helm, handing over leadership to Greg Abel. Under Abel’s direction, the company is managing a $357 billion investment portfolio.
In recent trading activity, Berkshire reduced its stake in Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) for the eighth consecutive quarter, selling 30,230,150 shares and cutting its total holding by 53%. In contrast, Abel significantly increased Berkshire’s investment in Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL), adding $17 billion during the second quarter, making it the company’s third-largest holding after Coca-Cola and Bank of America.
Alphabet reported robust financial performance for Q2 2026, with revenue increasing by 24% year-over-year to $119.8 billion and notable growth in its Google Cloud division, which saw an 82% year-over-year revenue surge, contributing to its appeal as a sustainable investment.
