Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that its first cloud infrastructure region in Saudi Arabia is set to launch by December 2026. This development is part of a $5.3 billion commitment revealed in March 2024 at the LEAP conference in Riyadh, aimed at expanding AWS’s global infrastructure to 40 regions worldwide.
The new Saudi region coincides with a partnership with HUMAIN, a Public Investment Fund-owned AI company, aiming to deliver up to 50 megawatts of capacity for AI workloads by 2028. The latest AWS growth has been robust, with a 37% year-over-year increase in net sales for Q2 2026, reaching a $169 billion annualized run rate.
As of now, Amazon’s stock has yielded a return of 10.6% this year, outpacing industry competitors, and the Zacks Consensus Estimate for its 2026 earnings indicates an 82.15% increase year-over-year, showcasing significant profitability potential as AWS continues to expand its AI-driven services.
